In second-degree burns, the epidermis and upper layer of the skin are affected. In these burns, you will see blisters, red-white discolouration and experience a lot of pain. The healing of these burns takes several weeks and may leave a scar.
The scar of a second-degree burn can also be camouflaged. But often a limited scar remains visible. The same applies to the scar after a first-degree burn. In this, there is no blister or wound, the skin is not broken, but at most swollen and red/pink in colour. A little later, the skin feels dry.
