Nipple tattoos after breast cancer and breast reconstruction is empowering

Breast cancer affects millions of women worldwide every year, and breast reconstruction is often an important part of their recovery process. We do know the medical piece to restore the appearance of the breasts, such as breast saving surgery or full reconstruction after amputation.

A nipple tattoo is less well known. It is precisely the nipple tattoo that plays an important role in helping women regain their confidence and feel beautiful again. In this blog, I tell you more about how nipple tattoos support women after breast cancer and breast reconstruction.

Breast cancer in figures

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in women. It is a global issue that affects many women. Pink Ribbon, the organisation I support, indicates that 26% of all cancers in women are breast cancer. That is why I always support Pink Ribbon. This time with my digital collection box and the Dam tot Damloop(check my Instagram for more), among other things.

The importance of breast reconstruction

Breast amputation or breast-conserving surgery are often necessary interventions to prevent the spread of cancer. And this can have a profound impact on a woman’s physical and emotional well-being. Breast reconstruction offers an opportunity to restore body image and helps women regain their self-confidence.

Finishing touch

An important aspect of breast reconstruction is the creation of the areola and nipple, which are often lost during amputation. After breast reconstruction, a pale tuut is usually formed of skin. A nipple tattoo brings back colour and is like the finishing touch to the reconstruction process. The icing on the cake. It helps women feel complete again, feel like women again.

These tattoos are carefully designed to mimic the natural colour and texture of a areola and nipple. In my practice, I make sure the result looks as realistic as possible. And this is possible with the 3D techniques I apply, good colours and shades I use. It is impressive how this art form not only complements the physical aspect of reconstruction, but can also be emotionally and mentally healing.

Empowerment and self-confidence

A nipple tattoo goes beyond external beauty. It allows women to regain their self-confidence after an often gruelling battle with cancer. You feel whole and complete again after seeing yourself in the mirror with 2 nipples instead of 1. This final process, this tattoo treatment allows women to take control of their bodies and their recovery process. It restores a sense of self that is sometimes lost during breast cancer treatment.

Empowering and restoring women’s self-confidence. I think it is very important to be aware of this life-changing disease and also raise awareness and that is why I am sharing this post, participating in the collection in October and walking 20 km during the Dam tot Damloop. Research is still badly needed and also knowledge of the possibilities of medical tattooing as I described above. Women, if they know about it, can benefit from the power of nipple tattoos in their recovery journey.

Everyone retouching of nipple tattoo up to 3 years free of charge

For me, the importance of a beautiful nipple (tattoo) is paramount. Updating it often only happens after about 3 years. A nipple tattoo is exposed to UV rays much less often, so the colours stay beautiful much longer. A retouching (touch-up) of a nipple tattoo after breast cancer (done by me) is therefore also less time-consuming and cheaper.
