An important aspect of breast reconstruction is the creation of the areola and nipple, which are often lost during amputation. After breast reconstruction, a pale tuut is usually formed of skin. For me, the importance of a beautiful nipple (tattoo) is paramount. Updating it often only happens after about 3 years. A nipple tattoo is exposed to UV rays much less often, so the colours stay beautiful much longer. A retouching (touch-up) of a nipple tattoo after breast cancer (done by me) is therefore also less time-consuming and cheaper.
